The sides of each triangle have an exact and unique relationship to each other for each angle of the second hand. That relationship is a different way to express the angle. Any angle can be expressed as a ratio between the lengths of the two sides. It looks like a fraction, it acts like a division problem, and as luck would have it, it’s a continuous function. If Binkie plotted the change in those relationships using time as his x axis, it wouldn’t graph a circle at all. For example if he plotted the relationship between his altitude above the horizontal line and the length of the second hand it would look like this:
